Office Tentatively Released July 2006

Microsoft has indicated that the next version of Office will be shipped in July 2006.

Bill Gates, Microsoft's chief software architect, speaking in Las Vegas comented that "Office 12" would have improved workflow, rights management, advanced scheduling and business intelligence.

Those are areas where Office has gotten richer and will in the next big release that's coming next year, he said.

A 2006 launch date would coincide with the long awaited launch of the Longhorn Windows product.
